Summer Camps are suspended
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding over the past few weeks and months as we have tried to navigate the ever-changing Covid-19 pandemic. We have been confronted with some very difficult decisions that we never would have dreamed to make during this time.
Throughout the past months, we have continued to make preparation for our full camp schedule. We continued to hire summer staff, plan the summer camp programs, promote with churches from a distance, and all the other things that go into a normal summer camp schedule. We did all of this while dreading the ever-looming possibility of needing to make drastic changes to our summer schedule.
Our leadership team and board of directors continued to watch the fluid situation and its potential impact to the camper experience. We closely followed the guidance and communication that was being issued from the White House, CDC, American Camping Association, state and local health departments, and other various sources so that we could appropriately implement the necessary changes to our summer camp programs.
The State of Wisconsin recently issued its official guidance for camps as they make plans for operating this summer.
Upon careful review of these guidelines and consulting our health officials and camp experts, the board of directors has made a unanimous decision to suspend the remainder of Northland Camp events this summer.
This was a very heart breaking and difficult decision to make, but it became clear that the Northland camp culture and experience that so many have come to love and expect could not be preserved if the social distancing requirements and other guidelines were implemented into the camp program as outlined by our state and local health offices.
For those who have already paid full camper fees and deposits, please anticipate our communication in the coming days.
Please keep Northland in your prayers as we now shift our attention to the future and the pressing financial needs.
