TEEN CAMPs

Warm sleeping bag, pillow, towels, toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.), a variety of clothes for warm and cool weather, swimsuit, extra clothes, tennis shoes (for rugged activities), light jacket, sweatshirts, Bible, notepad, pen or pencil, flashlight, insect repellent, spending money (approximately $40-$50+ in small bills), camera, etc.

Parents and pastors should know that our staff is committed to maintaining a professional and conservative dress standard, exemplifying the spirit of modesty and appropriateness in all activities. We ask all our guests, including campers, to be reasonable and conservative in their dress and conduct as well. We reserve the right to request a change in any clothing or behavior deemed inappropriate.

All clothing should come to the knee. Slacks/athletic pants are acceptable. Avoid tank tops. Campers are dressed more recreationally/casually during daytime events. For evening services, we encourage campers to wear their best attire. Several activities are considered extreme, allowing participants to choose dress appropriate for the situation. We expect campers to enjoy the camp experience by feeling as comfortable as possible within these instructions.

Use of cell phones by campers is prohibited in most instances. Emergency calls will be directed through the Camp Office. Messages from home will be delivered, if applicable. If teen campers bring cell phones, they will be allowed to check messages from parents from 1-2 p.m. (CST) on Fridays only.

Calls concerning safe arrival at Camp should be made to/from a sponsor with your group or the Camp Office.

• Since safety is a priority, visitors are prohibited while camp is in session. Special exceptions may be granted in advance through the Camp Office.

• Please plan to send campers for the entire camp week. Early dismissals are permitted in case of emergency only.

• Mark all personal belongings. Junior campers should give money and wallets to counselors for safe-keeping. Lost and Found items are donated one week after the camp week; requested items are returned COD. Northland will not be held responsible for lost, unclaimed, broken, or stolen personal property.

• Graduated seniors will be permitted to attend camp for one final summer.

All food (no snacks are permitted in the cabins except with permission from the Camp Office for special dietary needs), cigarettes, tobacco, alcohol, skateboards, cell phone (junior campers), scooters, roller blades, bicycles, magazines, fireworks, nonprescription drugs, knives, firearms, and almost any electronics (TV, radio, iPod, electronic games, laptop, tablet, etc.).

When assigning cabins, we try to honor as many cabin mate requests as possible if they fall within 1 to 2-grade levels of each other. In general, we try to house campers by grade. For example, it is possible that you could have a span of 7th to 9th graders in the same cabin, but we would strive to never have a 7th grader and an 11th or 12th grader in the same cabin.

Please send camper mail using the camper’s name, church’s name, and the camp week they are attending. Also, email campermail@northlandcamp.org. Mail call occurs at supper only.

Our program is planned with health and safety as priorities. A medical staff member is available 24 hours a day, and certified lifeguards supervise all water activities. Over-the-counter medication is provided by our Health Center. Please do not send medication unless prescribed by a doctor. All medication must be kept in its original labeled containers. For the health and safety of all campers, we request that campers who have contagious conditions or diseases not attend camp. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter of public health.

Note: All off-site medical expenses will be directed through the camper’s parents’ health insurance policy. Northland does not provide secondary health insurance coverage.
